Rabbi : Rabbi Aubrey L. Glazer

Rabbi Aubrey Glazer came to the JCCH as Senior Rabbi after serving at one of North America's flagship Conservative congregations in Toronto, Canada. A native of Toronto, Canada, Rabbi Glazer holds a B.A. in French Language and Literature (University of Toronto, 1994), an M.A. in Jewish Philosophy (Jewish Theological Seminary Graduate School), and a Ph.D. in Hebrew Hermeneutics (University of Toronto, June 2005). His ordination is from the Conservative movement (Jewish Theological Seminary, 2000). His research is part of a larger commitment to revitalizing Hebrew culture and civilization. While at JTSA, Rabbi Glazer had the opportunity to serve Jewish communities across North America and in Europe. Rabbi Glazer’s publications include scholarly studies and annotated translations in: Hebrew Studies: A Journal Devoted to Hebrew Language and Literature; Kabbalah: A Journal for the Study of Mystical Texts; God’s Voice From the Void: Old & New Studies in Bratzlav Hasidism; Ariel: The Israeli Review of Arts and Letters, and Jerusalem International Poets Festival Anthology. He is married to Elyssa Wortzman, an attorney and visual artist. Elyssa has experience teaching and creating community programming for children and adults in the Toronto Jewish Community.


Rabbi : Rabbi Emeritus Norton D. Shargel

Rabbi Norton D. Shargel is a father, scholar, author, and community leader. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he received a BA in Philosophy and Semitics from Johns Hopkins University. He received his Master of Hebrew Letters and Rabbinical Degree in 1959 from the Jewish Theological Seminary. In 1984 Rabbi Shargel was awarded the Doctor of Divinity degree from the Seminary, and in 1991 he received the degree of Doctor of Hebrew Literature. From September, 1970 until August 1998, Rabbi Shargel served as Rabbi of the Jewish Community Center of Harrison. Under his leadership, the JCCH has grown in spirit and depth. He has been active in the Inter-Congregational Layman’s Committee, President of the Westchester Board of Rabbis, a founding member of the Westchester Jewish Conference and a Board member of Westchester Jewish Community Services. Rabbi Shargel is currently Rabbi Emeritus of the JCCH and is an integral part of the synagogue family and community. Rabbi Shargel and his wife, Baila, are the parents of three children.
