Kippot
Most families order customized Kippot for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Kippot and clips may be ordered from the JCCH Sisterhood gift shop. A flyer is enclosed with more information. Each family should provide a basket for the kippot and clips which is placed on a table outside the Sanctuary. Please bring the kippot and basket to the synagogue no later than 2:30 pm on Friday afternoon, and leave with the office. The JCCH will provide standard women’s head coverings and pins. Floral Arrangements
It is customary for the parents of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah to provide flowers for the pulpit. In the case of a “double” Bar/Bat Mitzvah, the families should make this provision together. Bimah arrangements may not exceed 2 ½ ft high x 2 ½ ft wide, must not include any pollinated flowers and must be approved by the Executive Director. These arrangements, in addition to any flowers or decorations to be used for the Kiddush, must be delivered by 2:30 pm on Friday, and may not be removed until Shabbat has concluded on Saturday evening. Silk flowers are also available from the synagogue for a donation to the Simha Fund. Please call the Executive Director should you have further questions about this matter and to confirm meeting this requirement.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah Fees
There is a $900.00 fee for Sabbath morning services payable to the JCCH prior to the Bar/Bat Mitzvah. This fee will be billed by the synagogue office (fee is subject to change). There is an $1800.00 fee for minha-ma’ariv havdallah services payable to the JCCH prior to the Bar/Bat Mitzvah. This fee will be billed by the synagogue office (fee is subject to change).
Special Accommodations
Please remember to consider any special accommodations that your guests with special needs might require, whether it be audio devices for the hearing impaired or a ramp for a guest in a wheelchair. These accommodations can usually be made more easily if the Synagogue is made aware ahead of time.
