Derek Rosenzweig: Shalom! My name is Derek Rosenzweig. My parents are Stacy and Chuck Rosenzweig. I have a wonderful ten year old brother, Ryan. I am a member of JCCH but am having my Bar Mitzvah at Temple Israel Center in White Plains. This has special meaning as my father had his Bar Mitzvah there in 1976. My grandparents, Fran and Carl Rosenzweig have called Temple Israel their home for over 35 years. My maternal grandparents, Jackie and Stan Oratz, will be traveling from California for my Bar Mitzvah. I attended Solomon Schechter School through fifth grade. This experience helped me develop a strong Jewish identity to then build upon. I am now enjoying my second year at Hackley School and finishing seventh grade. My current favorite subjects are History and Chinese. I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. At Hackley, I am on the middle school football, wrestling and lacrosse teams. In addition, I play on a travel lacrosse team and on the T.I.C. basketball team. I will soon be spending my fifth summer at Camp Takajo in Maine. Among my other interests are skiing, playing piano, listening to music and watching CNN and ESPN. This year I participated in a U.J.A. mission trip to Atlanta. We spent our days there serving the homeless at a soup kitchen, caring for foster children and visiting with the Jewish elderly. I have also participated in community service projects through my school and in mitzvah projects in our local community through the JCCH of Harrison.
