This mini-course will explore some of the key conceptual issues animating Judaism during ancient, Second Temple, medieval, and modern times.
Each of the four mini-course sessions will focus on a different era. Within each era, the course will explore what living “Jewishly” meant, what threats Jewish communities faced, and what key theological or existential issues animated Jewish life. Essentially, the course will address how Jews lived as Jews throughout history.
The mini-course will be intended to offer a "taste of" Judaism during these different periods, providing a springboard for more in-depth study of discrete topics throughout the course of the year. The sessions will also be independent of one another, so if you happen to miss one session, please feel free to come to the next. We look forward to seeing you the first session on July 8th.
