Our two year term as Sisterhood Presidents is coming to an end this month and we have not yet been successful in finding replacements. Many of the programs already have leaders in place, which makes the job much easier for the next president(s). With that being said, please consider stepping forward to be the next JCCH Sisterhood president. It is a fun and rewarding experience to do with a friend or group of friends and it would be a shame to see Sisterhood disappear from our community. JCCH Sisterhood provides far too many crucial resources and programs to our congregation for that to happen! If you have any questions or have any interest please contact Carla Ifrah at

or (914)723-4338. Thanks. Sisterhood –A Community of Women with Shared Vision & Values invites you to participate in our beautiful New Year’s Card Booklet “5771” We are continuing our meaningful tradition of sending a Congregational New Year's Card booklet. This is a wonderful way to send New Year's wishes to our entire synagogue community, while supporting Sisterhood's fine programs. Please join us in making the “5771” greeting the most significant ever! The cost is a $30 contribution for your name, and an additional $6 per line for your children's names. Please respond as early as possible, because the High Holy Days are just around the corner. |

Efrat Lefkowitz: Over fifty people attended last month's Club Wednesday to hear Susan Lawi give a most informative talk about her personal experience in India and the origins of the Jews in that part of the world. Current Events with Shari Baum, a buffet luncheon and Susan's outstanding presentation topped off the year, 5770, 2009-2010 in fitting fashion for Club Wednesday. We appreciate the efforts of the many people who made the programs possible and successful. In addition to Susan Lawi we thank Bincy Jacobs of My Sister's Place, Karen Goldstick, Dr. Eric Larson, Director White Plains Hospital Emergency Services, Roberta Reiter, Judith Tane and Debbie Schwartz from The Neuberger Museum, Rabbi Norton Shargel, Laura Urken and her pianist Jeffrey Blumenkratz, Abby Mendelsohn, Amy Hughson, Julie Brandes, Lisa Lichtenberg, Sylvia Rogers, Lois Dinkin, Judy Weinberg, Carla Ifrah, Cantor Israel Singer, Deanna Mancuso, Rabbi Aubrey Glazer, Susan Needleman, Carol Zeleznik, Nancy Isaacs, the ECC four year olds and their teachers, Henry Estaphanio and his staff of Carlos, Gil and Mario, Shari Baum of WJCS and, of course, the JCCH Sisterhood. Club Wednesday is sponsored by the JCCH Sisterhood for those with leisure time and all are invited at no charge. We wish everyone a pleasant summer and look forward to being with you at our next Club Wednesday in the Fall. |

Sisterhood's final event of the year brought professional make up artist Meredith Hayman to the JCCH for an intimate and educational evening. Meredith shared her expertise with us about making our daily make up routines easy, quick, and truly effective! We learned how to turn that daytime look into something a little more sophisticated for evening as well. Best yet, we all had a turn sitting in her chair under the lights for some really transformative makeovers. Thanks to Meredith and all those who attended, and for the donations of makeup to Operation Prom. When you receive yourScribe please be sure to fill out the Sisterhood's New Year's Booklet "5771" flyer and send it back as soon as possible. The Holy Days are really early this year. Thank you. We wish you all a happy, safe, relaxing, and fun summer! |
