Sisterhood – a Community of Women with Shared Vision & Values

By Andy, Carla and Lisa: You may be wondering why it is important to belong to Sisterhood. The purpose of Sisterhood is to form friendships, enrich each other’s lives, and make our synagogue a warm and welcome place. Sisterhood at the JCCH is about nurturing women and their personal growth and achievements, spiritual enlightenment, and performing mitzvot.

With the arrival of fall, Sisterhood welcomes a season full of new and interesting events for our JCCH community. Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give.” We are all so busy that it is hard to find time to give to others and to our community. Please make a commitment to Sisterhood for this year by saying, “Yes, I’ll do it” and by attending events. Sisterhood needs your talent, dedication, and enthusiasm, so that we can continue on our path of accomplishments and success.

Our first program will be an opening luncheon with a cooking demonstration by personal chef, Kathy Kalichman, at the home of Amy Hughson. Mark your calendars for
September 16th. We thank Kathy and Amy for volunteering. We would also like to thank Marilyn Jacobowitz, Lisa Friedman and Elyssa Wortzman for organizing and creating our congregational New Year’s card.

You are cordially invited to attend our first Sisterhood meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 10th, at the JCCH. Come share your ideas and suggestions, and help us plan events for this upcoming year. We wish all of you a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Andy, Carla, and Lisa.
